the corporate gift that is still on the desk in March

Most sustainable corporate gifts are still consumed. Permanence is the version of sustainability nobody is selling.

Almost every sustainable corporate gift on the Indian market is still consumed. Seed crackers get planted once. Incense burns. Dry fruit is finished by Thursday. The sustainability is real and the gift is gone. There is a second version of the argument that nobody is selling, and it is the one we would make for eco friendly corporate gifts for employees: the greenest object is the one that does not need replacing next year.

What a corporate gift is actually for

A senior employee at a mid-sized company receives six hampers in the same fortnight. They eat one and give the rest away. The gift worked as an obligation and failed completely as a gesture — by January, nobody can tell you who sent which box.

A handmade object has the opposite property. It stays on a desk, it gets asked about, and the answer to where is this from is your company name. That is the whole return, and a consumable cannot produce it.

The three numbers procurement asks first

  • ₹1,499 per head for the gift box; ₹1,899 for the moon bouquet; ₹2,999 for the large bouquet.
  • Minimum 10 pieces. Below that it is a normal shop order at the same per-piece price.
  • Yes to branding — a printed card with your logo in every box, and the flowers made in your brand colours.

Why this counts as sustainable, stated plainly

No packaging beyond the box it is gifted in. Nothing perishable, so nothing is thrown away uneaten. Made to order, so nothing is produced that is not wanted — the single largest source of waste in corporate gifting is unallocated stock. And it is made by hand by one person in Gurugram, which is a supply chain you can describe in a sentence at the all-hands.

We are not going to claim a carbon figure we have not measured. What we can say is that the object is still there in a year, and that is a claim most of this category cannot make.
